In-House Treasure: Patently Excellent

February 26th, 2008 · No Comments

Treasure ChestI posted about in-house jobs over at Above The Law today, so it’s a good time to post another “In-House Treasure” here at The Associate Pirate.

A software and technology company located in the Pacific Northwest is building an in-house patent team to prepare and prosecute portfolios for various business lines. These guys have solid revenues, a broad array of products, and some serious techies.

As one of the earlier in-house attorneys in the new patent team, you will:

  • Work closely with the relevant business divisions to assist in the development of a patent strategy.
  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications, coordinating with engineers and other team members to obtain the appropriate scope of protection.
  • Help define and build internal processes.
  • Enjoy a stimulating, fast-paced environment.

If this sounds like the job for you, you should have a degree in computer science, USPTO admission, and at least 5-7 years of experience (law firm preferred) in patent preparation and prosecution. As with most patent positions, opinion work and licensing experience will be a plus, and a little patent litigation experience will be helpful, too.
